Catholic Volunteers Needed

We have a women’s minimum security prison nearby that needs Catholic volunteers. The Next Door is a work-release program for women in their last two years of incarceration, housed at Moccasin Bend on the Northshore, Currently, there are two Catholic women in residence, and we are looking for a pool of volunteers to offer occasional communion services at the facility. OKMS Teacher Appreciation Week 

In celebration of OKMS’ upcoming Teacher Appreciation Week, Our Lady of the Mount will be providing lunch on Wednesday, May 10. We need volunteers to help feed around 70 people. Food items and financial support are needed. Please contact Ann Epps at 423-653-4950, to get involved. Thank you.

St. Patrick’s Day Dispensation 

Archbishop Hartmayer has granted Catholics who reside in the Archdiocese of Atlanta a dispensation from the Lenten abstinence obligation on Friday, March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, as this feast is celebrated in significant ways throughout the Archdiocese. For those who live in Tennessee or Alabama, the bishops of Knoxville and Birmingham have also dispensed the faithful from the usual Lenten Friday obligation on St. Patrick’s Day.

Precious Blood Returns and EMHC Training

Starting with the weekend Masses April 22-23, we will offer Holy Communion in both species, that is you will have the option to receive the Precious Blood in addition to the consecrated host. The Church has always held that in the Eucharistic host one receives during the Communion Rite is the fullness of Christ’s Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Therefore, it is not necessary to receive the cup containing the Precious Blood. However, for those of you who want to drink from the cup, you will now have that option again. No Regrets

Dick Crotteau is facilitating a discussion group on “finishing well” – living fully in the last quarter of our earthly lives. He is using Dynamic Catholic’s No Regrets program as a guide. This group continues to meet Sundays, March 19 & 26 at 10:00 A.M. in Shuler Hall and is for all ages.
